Dr. Christina Vezza
DVM, MS, Diplomate ACVIM (Neurology)
Dr. Christina Vezza, DVM, MS, Diplomate ACVIM (Neurology) is a Long Island native and comes from a family of veterinarians. She graduated cum laude from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal and Poultry Sciences. She attended Auburn University for veterinary school and graduated cum laude in 2020 (War Eagle!)
After veterinary school, Dr. Vezza participated in a rotating internship at the Veterinary Medical Center of Long Island followed by a Neurology internship at Angell Animal Medical Center as the inaugural neurology intern. Dr. Vezza completed her residency in Neurology/Neurosurgery at Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. During her residency, she earned a Master of Science degree in Biomedical and Veterinary Sciences. Dr. Vezza served on Virginia Tech’s first Intern Resident Oversight Committee (IROC) as the resident chair member.
During her residency, she assisted with clinical trials at Virginia Tech. She is the first author of “First-In-DOg HISTotripsy for Intracranial Tumors Trial: The FIDOHIST Study” which is a pilot study on the use of histotripsy for treatment of canine primary brain tumors. She has assisted with a Virginia Tech clinical trial using Convection Enhanced Delivery (CED) for treatment of canine intracranial gliomas. She is the first author of a recently published case report “Primary intracranial lymphoma and meningioma manifesting as a composite tumor in a cat.”
Dr. Vezza has special interests in neuro-oncology, neurosurgery, and continuing education. Outside of neurology, Dr. Vezza enjoys indoor plants and cooking.
