Veterinary technicians provide high quality medical care to all in-patient and adoption center animals as directed by a senior veterinarian.

- Proficiency in proper animal restraint.
- Ability to draw blood and place catheters (jugular and femoral catheterization required).
- Experienced or educated in laboratory procedures such as proper blood and specimen handling, reading of fecal assays and urinalysis.
- Familiar with radiographic technique and positioning.
- Administration of intravenous drugs and anesthetic agents, including understanding of the basic mechanics of an anesthesia machine. • Monitoring of all patients and able to identify medical emergencies.
- Proficiency in aseptic technique, including cleaning, sterilizing and packing of surgical instruments, drapes and gowns.
- Ability to assist in surgery at the discretion of the veterinary doctor.

This is a co leadership position that works in conjunction with the Client Services Operations Manager (CSOM) & Hospital Administrator, the CoCSS is responsible for ensuring that high quality client care services are being offered to customers, including but not limited to visitors, veterinary clients, referring veterinarians animals, and staff. The Co-CSS ensures that VMCLl's Customer Service Standards, policies & procedures are being met by all Clerical Personnel alike. The CoCCS must always maintain a happy and professional demeanor. These positions are not only supervisors, but they are persons who provide services at the front lines within the practice, acting as a role models to all clerical staff.

Co-Supervision & Performance of Client Services & External Relations
- Ensures that all frontend clerical employees adhere to Customer Service Standards and VMCLI policies & procedures.

- Handles Customer complaints under the direction of the CSOM, professionally and finds diplomatic resolutions.

Animal-related tasks
- Becomes familiar with our clients and patients, as well as any pertinent medical information when necessary.
- Adheres to and supervises employee's compliance of policies & procedures.
Housekeeping/Maintenance
- Verifies that the reception and waiting areas are neat and clean at all times.
- Always maintains personal appearance neat, professional and clean.
- Ensures the Desk is kept stocked, that is neat and clean and that all items are properly labeled (when applicable).
Financial Responsibilities
- Handles monetary transactions with clients and provides receipts accordingly.
- Keeps cash/checks, etc. secure at all times.
- Processes client paperwork, and other necessary paperwork for appropriate departments.
Specific Assigned Administration Tasks:
- Assists CSOM with payroll time records and modifications for all applicable Personnel
- Assists CSOM Scheduling CCC's
- Monitoring vacation and sick time for CCC's in accordance with VMCLI policies and procedures.
- Assist CSOM with annual performance appraisals administration and drafting for all CCC's.
- Assist Performance improvement plan administration and drafting.
- Ensures proper handling of scheduled appointments
- Assists CSOM with billed accounts and client AR.

Requirements
- High School Degree or equivalent, some college preferred
- Minimum of 5 years supervising experience

Position Purpose
Veterinary assistants provide supportive services under the direction of the veterinarian and Veterinary Technicians. This includes but is not limited to administering oral or topical medications, as allowed by NY state law; setting up equipment for both treatment rooms and surgery, restraining animals, lab work, general facility cleaning, cleaning of all wards and isolation rooms, interacting with the public and answering phones occasionally.

Special Position Requirements/Physical Requirements
- This position requires the ability to walk, bend, stand, lift, reach, stoop, carry, push and pull for at least 8 hours a day.

Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Board-Certified or Residency Trained Veterinary Ophthalmologist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about providing high-quality veterinary care and possess excellent communication skills to build lasting relationships with our clients. You will work alongside a team of experienced veterinarians, technicians, and support staff and will work closely with the Hospital Manager and Regional Manager.
The Veterinary Medical Center of Long Island Referral & Emergency Hospital (VMCLI) offers 24/7 emergency and critical care and provides specialty services consisting of Surgery, Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Critical Care, Dermatology, Dentistry, Ophthalmology, Avian & Exotics, Neurology, Cardiology and Physical Rehabilitation.

Key Responsibilities
- Comprehensive patient exams and medical work-ups
- Client communication and education
- Maintaining accurate medical records
- Pharmacy duties such as prescribing medications to patients and following controlled substance protocols
- Promote teamwork and staff efficiency
- Work with the Hospital Manager on weekly priorities and expectations
- Evaluate and monitor protocols for the daily running of the hospital from intake to discharge
- Monitor cases in the hospital and attend daily rounds when possible to be sure the highest standards are being upheld
- Participate in practice management updates and training at all levels
- Performs other duties as assigned by Management.
Qualifications (Required)
- Veterinarian degree (DVM or VMD) from an accredited college or university
- 1-year rotational internship in small animal medicine, surgery, ER (university or large referral practice).
- Completed a 3-year, AVMA approved residency program
- Current State Veterinary License
- DEA registration must be obtained and maintained
- Strong diagnostic and clinical skills.
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Commitment to providing compassionate and high-quality veterinary care.
- Excellent Communication Skills and the ability to communicate effectively, efficiently, and in a timely manner with all members of the Medical and Hospital staff.
- Client communication skills, must be able to elicit information, establish rapport, offer explanations with pet owners.
- Display confidence and reassurance when dealing with pets experiencing severe stress, illness, or pain.
- May include some climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Some tasks involve the periodic performance of moderately physically demanding work.
- Position does require the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

- 2-5 years of experience post-residency
- Clinical Knowledge and Skills: Demonstrate clinical knowledge and skill in examining and assessing animals. Perform cardiovascular, respiratory, orthopedic, neurological and other necessary examinations. Diagnosis and prescribe appropriate treatment.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to develop solutions to challenges relating to the management of a high-quality veterinary hospital.
- Communication Skills: Demonstrate effective communication of diagnostic and therapeutic options to clients. Display effective communication with internal medical and hospital staff.
- Professionalism: Work as part of a high-quality, professional veterinary team with the ability to provide and receive appropriate constructive criticism, suggestions, and feedback.
- Business Acumen: Ability to understand the management and finances of the veterinary hospital practice.
- Ethics: Knowledge and understanding of ethical principles that guide decisions affecting patients.
- Commitment to Continuing Education: Commitment to utilize available resources of continuing education and to facilitate learning of others.
