Our mission is to provide patients with the utmost in veterinary care, while addressing the particular needs of their owners. At the Veterinary Medical Center our staff, family veterinarians, and pet owners are all equal parts of a veterinary team. We encourage open communication and deeply respect the values, and wisdom, of our team members.

The following is an outline of the current and newly appointed management positions to better help delineate the support available to each of you. Here is an overview of our current leadership positions and some of the most recent changes to the management team.

Robert Composto, DVM, Co-Founder and Director of the Veterinary Medical Center of Long Island

Dr. Composto graduated with honors from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and completed his clinical year of training at the University of Illinois School of Veterinary Medicine. He practiced as an associate veterinarian in a large multi-doctor hospital in Brooklyn, New York until 2002, when he became a practicing emergency medicine clinician, as co-owner of Atlantic Veterinary Emergency Center in West Islip, Long Island. Gregory S. Carastro, LVT, Hospital Administrator & Director of HR

As the VMCLI Hospital Administrator & Director of Human Resources, Gregory is responsible for ensuring the continued success and growth of our practice and maintaining high quality medical care and customer service standards for all our patients and clients alike. He is also charged with developing training programs and opportunities to enhance our employee’s professional development and our visibility within the community. Additionally, he continues to make enhancements to our HR protocols and OSHA compliance standards throughout the facility. Gregory will lead the management team and oversee all monthly meeting schedules throughout the practice. Furthermore, he coordinates and maintains all of the VMCLI accredited internships & residencies offered and produces the ER DVM and Intern schedules.

Jennifer Larson, LVT, Head LVT and Hospital Supervisor

As the VMCLI Hospital Supervisor & Head LVT, Jennifer is responsible for the recruiting, screening, training, and managing of the technical staff within the facility. She aids in the resolution of scheduling concerns and coverage for all services. She assists with matters of personnel conflict for all departmental staff and the facility as whole. She works closely with the management team and reports directly to the Hospital Administrator. Additionally, she validates all personnel time cards and vacation tracking accruals.

 

Gina Barone, DVM, Diplomate ACVIM (Neurology & Neurosurgery), Co-Chief of Staff 

Dr. Gina Barone, Diplomate ACVIM (neurology) joined our Neurology referral service in 2009 and has been a intrical addition to the VMCLI team. Dr. Barone attended Vassar College where she graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology, then received her doctorate from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. During her senior year at Cornell, Dr. Barone was the recipient of a prestigious award for the student showing academic excellence in Neurology.

 

 

Edwin Brodsky, DVM, Diplomate ACVIM (Oncology), Co-Chief of Staff & Internship Program Director

Dr. Edwin Brodsky is one of approximately two hundred board-certified veterinary oncologists in the United States.  He graduated with honors from Tufts University in 1999.  In 2003, he graduated second in his class with an honors degree from Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine.  He received his board certification from the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine with a specialty in oncology after completing a residency in small animal clinical oncology. Dr. Brodsky is responsible for insuring the internship guidelines are upheld and all corresponding journal club, wet labs, and varied didactic trainings are administered as scheduled. He will additionally provide direct mentoring and training for the program policies and guidelines that oversee interdepartmental case navigation and the overall intern experience.

Dani Wharton, DVM, Lead Emergency Clinician & Hospitalist

The Lead Emergency Clinician & Hospitalist will be responsible for aiding in the coordination, training, and supervision of the Emergency Department. She is charged with promoting greater efficiency and quality of care for our patients and emergency services alike. Additionally, she will aid in, education, personnel enrichment, and medical standardization among the ER Clinicians and Interns, in accordance with the hospitals mission, vision and values. As part of the leadership team, Dani will work closely with the Emergency Service Supervisor, Department Leads and report directly to the Hospital Administrator & the Chief of Staff.

Trish Candido, LVT & Administrative Coordinator & Inventory Manager

Trish has been charged with the maintenance of all inventory Control Standards within the practice. She is directly involved in all methods of expense reduction and routine practice audits for all services. She additionally assists in the management of all departmental Impromed schedules. She works closely with the management team and reports directly to the Hospital Administrator.

 

Emergency Service Supervisor – Open Position

The Emergency Services Supervisor will be responsible for aiding in the coordination, training, and supervision of the Emergency department. She is charged with promoting greater efficiency and quality of care for our patients and staff alike. Additionally, she will aid in scheduling, coordination of coverage, education, personnel enrichment, and conflict resolution in accordance with the hospitals mission, vision and values. As part of the management team, Christina will work closely with the departmental leads and report directly to the Hospital Supervisor & the Hospital Administrator.

Training Committee Coordinator & Lead LVT Supervisor – Open Position

The Training Committee Coordinator & Lead LVT Supervisor will lead the Training Committee and Departmental Lead LVT’s in all matters that pertain to new hire knowledge assessments, training & orientation, quality control of training methods and materials, assessing & updating current and future training materials based on the needs of the facility and our patient care standards. Additionally, the TCC will assist in the retraining of current personnel that are experiencing technical performance issues. Stephanie will be instrumental in staff enrichment and professional growth within the facility.  Furthermore, through mentoring, training, and observation, the TCC will promote greater efficiency and quality of care for our patients and clients alike in accordance with the hospitals mission, vision and values.  Stephanie will work closely with the management team and report directly to the Hospital Supervisor & Hospital Administrator.

Client Services Operations Manager – Open position

The Client Services Operation Manager is responsible for ensuring that high quality client care services are being offered to all customers, RDVM’s, including but not limited to visitors, clients, patients, and staff.  The CSOM ensures that VMCLI’s Customer Service Standards, Client Service Operations, policies & procedures are being met by all Clerical Personnel alike.  The CSOM will maintain a professional & uplifting client services environment, while responding to the operational needs of the client services departments, which include, but are not limited to; all customer service channels, billing, auditing, accounts receivable, telecommunications, referral processing, and interoffice communication standards.  This position must maintain a lead by example disposition, acting as a role model for all clerical staff. Additionally, they will work closely with the management team and report directly to the Hospital Administrator, Managing Partners and Hospital Supervisor in his absence. 

Co-Customer Service Supervisors – Tiffany LiCausi, & Jennifer Gallagher

The VMCLI Co-Customer Service Supervisor is dual position responsible for training and management of the front desk. They aid in the resolution of client complaints and personnel conflict within her department. They work closely with the management team and reports directly to the Client Services Operations Manager, Hospital Administrator, Managing Partners and Hospital Supervisor in their absence. They are charged with policy implementation and enforcement for all customer service personnel in accordance with the hospitals mission, vision and values.

LVT & Shift Lead ER Technicians – Kaleen Corbett, LVT, Kaitlyn Doyle, LVT, Emily Kalle, LVT, Crystal Nardelli. LVT

The ER Shift Lead Technician are responsible for the coordination, training, and supervision of the Emergency departmental staff on shift. They are charged with promoting greater efficiency and quality of care for our patients and staff alike in real time. They will aid in scheduling, coordination of coverage, education, personnel enrichment, and conflict resolution in accordance with the hospitals mission, vision and values. The ER Shift Lead LVT’s works under the direction of the Lead LVT Supervisor, Hospital Supervisor, Hospital Administrator, and in conjunction with the entire management team.

Ryan Gray, LVT & Internal Medicine Lead Technician

The Internal Medicine Lead Technician will be responsible for the coordination, training, and supervision of the IM departmental staff. He will be charged with promoting greater efficiency and quality of care for their patients and staff alike. He will aid in scheduling, coordination of coverage, education, personnel enrichment, and conflict resolution in accordance with the hospitals mission, vision and values.  Ryan will work closely with the management team and report directly to the Lead LVT Supervisor.

Ophthalmology Lead Technician – Open Position

The Ophthalmology Lead Technician will be responsible for the coordination, training, and supervision of the Ophthalmology departmental staff. She will be charged with promoting greater efficiency and quality of care for their patients and staff alike. She will aid in scheduling, coordination of coverage, education, personnel enrichment, and conflict resolution in accordance with the hospitals mission, vision and values.  Tania will work closely with the management team and report directly to the Lead LVT Supervisor.

Danielle Bevilacqua, LVT & Surgery Lead Technician

The Surgery Lead Technician will be responsible for the coordination, training, and supervision of the Surgery departmental staff. She will be charged with promoting greater efficiency and quality of care for their patients and staff alike. They will aid in scheduling, coordination of coverage, education, personnel enrichment, and conflict resolution in accordance with the hospitals mission, vision and values.  They will work closely with the management team and report directly to the Hospital Supervisor.

Deirdre Meehan, LVT, VTS (ECC), & Oncology Lead Technician

The Oncology Lead Technician will be responsible for the coordination, training, and supervision of the Oncology departmental staff. She will be charged with promoting greater efficiency and quality of care for their patients and staff alike. She will aid in scheduling, coordination of coverage, education, personnel enrichment, and conflict resolution in accordance with the hospitals mission, vision and values.  Deidre will work closely with the management team and report directly to the Lead LVT Supervisor.

Francesca Quinci-Rivera, LVT, VTS (Dentistry) & Dentistry Lead Technician

The Dentistry Lead Technician will be responsible for the coordination, training, and supervision of the Dentistry departmental staff. She will be charged with promoting greater efficiency and quality of care for their patients and staff alike. She will aid in scheduling, coordination of coverage, education, personnel enrichment, and conflict resolution in accordance with the hospitals mission, vision and values.  Frannie will work closely with the management team and report directly to the Lead LVT Supervisor.

Kelly Pisarz, Assistant & Neurology Lead

The Neurology Lead will be responsible for the coordination, training, and supervision of the Neurology departmental staff. She will be charged with promoting greater efficiency and quality of care for their patients and staff alike. She will aid in scheduling, coordination of coverage, education, personnel enrichment, and conflict resolution in accordance with the hospitals mission, vision and values.  Kelly will work closely with the management team and report directly to the Lead LVT Supervisor.

Valerie Glavan & Shauna Podgurski, Lead Client Care Coordinators

As a VMCLI Lead Client Care Coordinator, they will aid in the training, oversight and accuracy of the customer service team. they will assist in the resolution of client complaints, RDVM referral documentation and personnel conflict within the department. Additionally, they will work closely with the management team and report directly to the Customer Service Supervisor, Client Services Operations Manager and the Hospital Administrator in their absence. They will be charged with policy enforcement, and implementation for all customer service personnel in accordance with the hospitals mission, vision and values.

Keyla Redondo, Payroll & Human Resources Associate

As a VMCLI Human Resources Associate, Keyla will aid Human Resources in the processing of workers compensation claims, PFML, FMLA, benefits enrollment and will be tracking the employee COVID testing mandates. Additionally, Keyla will work closely with the Administrative Team and report directly to the Hospital Administrator and Hospital Supervisor. Keyla has been charged with upholding all VMCLI HR policy in accordance with the hospitals mission, vision and values.
