Dr. Maureen Jay
Dr. Maureen Jay brings a diverse set of skills and experiences to her new Residency position here at the VMCLI. In 2011, she graduated from Washington State University. Post graduation, she began her Small Animal Medicine & Surgery Internship at the Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston. Following her specialized internship, she began her specialized surgical internship at the Veterinary Specialty Hospital in San Diego, CA, which she completed in 2014. Dr. Jay has submitted a publication for review to Veterinary Surgery Journal on “Regional Variations in Antimicrobial Susceptibilities of TPLO Implant Associated Infections”. During her surgical Internship in 2013, she was appointed as a Clinical Instructor of Veterinary Medicine due to her contributions and efforts in educating students from the Western University College of Veterinary Medicine. She has received numerous awards and honors for her work with Avian and Exotic species and has completed numerous elective coursework in transfusion medicine, pain and analgesia, and applied comparative reproductive physiology.
In addition to Dr. Jay’s formal residency training under Dr. Puccio and Dr. Short, she will provide further mentoring, training and supervision to the interns during their surgical rotation. Her talents will be invaluable in enhancing the education and personnel enrichment of our internship, in accordance with the hospitals mission, vision and values.
We are delighted to have Dr. Jay take on this new role and we have complete trust in her ability to uphold the responsibilities the position entails.
